Meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Twenty four members present.

Mel Mann – the N4C convention at Springbrook is quickly approaching. Guthrie Center, Iowa April 29 thru May 1. Details may be found at N4C.us for anyone interested in attending the conference.

An Equipment Committee has been formed to investigate the possible purchase of additional material for the club. Suggestions or comments may be directed to Rich, Dhruba and Gary.

Discussion on the “forum” section of the club web site. This section appears to be underutilized. Show of hands vote to clear and reset this section – give it another try.

Next meeting will be a program on portraiture presented to Mark Kresl. If the weather permits it will be outdoors. Bring your camera to the meeting.

Tonight is our second and final print competition. Great show everyone – Congrats to all.

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Mel Mann stands in as president for Gary this evening. Twenty eight members present including one guest.

Mel announced that beginning April 9 and continuing through July 10 “Capture to Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs” will be on display at the Durham Museum. This is a wonderful opportunity right in our own backyard.

Tim White has rescheduled his Photoshop/Lightroom teaching session to Tuesday, April 12th. Contact Tim for additional information.

Additional information from our March 29th meeting – Brian Alspaugh reports that their group discussion mainly covered competition options. Prints to be not less than 8 x 10 and that the overall finished (matted) dimension be limited to 16 x 20. Some recommended categories are portrait, still life, nature, commercial and altered reality. Everyone seems to like the “speed judging”, introduced to us by Mel. Comments given on digital or print images should be positive and constructive in nature.

A couple of dates to mark on your calendar: April 15th DeSoto Bend opens for the season and September 24th is the Pow Wow at Fort Omaha.

This evening is the last of our digital competitions for the club year. Thirty four images entered. On with the show. Congratulations to all. We have certainly had many fine entries this year!

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Standing in this evening as president for Gary Prill is Mark Kresl. Thank you Mark. Twenty eight members present.

This meeting was used to discuss ideas, thoughts and options for next year’s club education and enjoyment. To that end, we broke up into smaller groups to come up with more ideas. Groups were – competitions, meeting structure, programs and photo ops/volunteer photo ops.

Suggestions for further discussion from the photo ops group are: Durham Museum, CWS fireworks, Omaha night skyline from Fairmont Park, Fontenelle Forest/Neile Woods, Boyer Chute, Lauritzen Gardens, Roller Girls, Elkhorn Campus film lab, Iowa Bike Ride, Air & Space Museum and Offutt Air Show. Buildings of interest (architectural shoot): Paxton Hotel, Orpheum, Scottish Rite, First National, Zorinski Building, Fort Omaha, Harper Building on Creighton Campus, Cathedral, Mary Mags, Live Stock Exchange, Kutek Rock Building and UP Building. Car Shows: Last Fling of Spring in West Point, Ne, All Chevy Show (in July) and the Orphan Car Show on May 15th in Downtown Ralston. Several members volunteered to gather information on access to these places and will have more information at a later date.

How did it get to be 8:30pm so quickly. More information to follow at our next meeting.

Minutes 3.15.11

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Twenty nine members present. Mel Mann is serving as president this evening as Gary is home ill. Our wishes for a speedy recovery Gary.

The second and final print competition rapidly approaches. Get those prints ready and bring them to the meeting on April 19th. All members participate in judging the prints at the meeting. Scores are tabulated and winning prints announced.

The last digital competition is also just around the corner. Don Cross asks that all entries by submitted to him by noon on Saturday, March 19th. From a different perspective is the assigned subject for April.

Trish Place spoke to us about a volunteer project. “Rebuilding Together” is a group of volunteers that help people with simple home repairs. The homes are located east of 72nd Street and many have elderly residents. They are in need of photo teams to document the work as it is taking place and/or also to help with the work. Contact Trish for more information.

Discussion began on the formation of OCC 101. This was discussed as a novice mentoring program a/k/a/ Super Geeks helping Non-Geeks. We may have to move to an even larger meeting room if we keep getting great ideas like this one! More discussion to follow.

Tim White will host a Lightroom/Photoshop education session on March 22nd, 6:30 to 8:30pm at our regular meeting place. The class is already full but you are welcome to observe if you wish.

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Thirty one members present including our newest member Donna. As of this meeting date our membership has grown to fifty three!

Gary announced the final cut off date for turning in images to be placed in the Omaha Camera Club Anniversary Book. That date is May 1st. If you have any questions, contact Gary.

Tim White is in the process of collecting information for a “Chicken Run” road trip. Place - Big Blue Ranch & Lodge located near Burchard, Ne. When - sometime in mid-April. Prairie Chicken courtship behavior, use of blind, etc. Visit their web site at www.bigblueranch.com More information to follow.

Tim has also accepted the job of nominations chairperson. Nominations are open for president and print chairperson. Contact Tim.

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Forty eight members and guests present. Special guests Scott and Billie Kay Bodie joined us from the Big Blue Ranch and Lodge located near Burchard, Nebraska. Also , special welcome to our two newest members, Thomas and Terry.

Our program this evening is “. . . from Maine to the Plains . . .” presented by Tim White. This program was dedicated to the memory of Bob Douglas, long time friend, fellow photographer and member of the Omaha Camera Club. Wonderful show Tim – Thank You.

Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm. Thirty six members present including two guests. Please help me welcome Jenny, Brian and Pat as new members joining this evening.

March digital competition is just around the corner. Please have your images submitted to Don Cross by Friday evening, February 18th.

The program for the evening of February 22nd is titled “. . . From Maine to the Plains . . .” presented by Tim White. Please bring a guest for this program. An invitation has been extended to The Omaha Home for Boys houseparent’s, boys and staff.

Mel Mann has turned in additional images to N4C for their monthly competition. He will get back to us at a later date with results from that competition. This is another opportunity to have your work seem by other clubs in our region. If you need more information, contact Mel.

The sandhill crane migration is just around the corner. Contact the Rowe Sanctuary to schedule a date and time soon. Space is limited, don’t wait. Tim White will get back to us with more information on a possible trip to the Burchard, Ne area (approx 2 hour drive South from Omaha) to view the prairie chickens. Late March to the third week of April is the prime viewing period.

We have 48 images submitted for February competition. On with the show. Congrats to all.

Be sure to keep an eye on the club calendar, blog and forum for new information on upcoming events. Here we are at the end of January already . . . Spring is just a couple of “clicks” away!

Mel announced that images submitted for the December N4C competition are starting to come back from judging. A Merit Award was given to Mel for an image entered in the impressionistic category. Congratulations Mel. Additional results to follow when received.




Mel also presented our program this evening – Color Management and Printing. The presentation will be available at the web site in the near future. If you were not able to make it to the meeting, be sure check it out on the web site. Lots of information packed into a short amount of time. Great job Mel – thanks.

Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm. Fourteen members braved the sudden snowfall.
