Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm. Twenty eight members and two guests present.

Check the web site for detailed info on the upcoming ”Zombie Walk” taking place in the Benson business district. October 15th, makeup at 2 pm – walk begins at 5:30 pm. Spooky stuff!!!!

Mel Mann is collecting digital images for submission to N4C for competition. Send your best to Mel – let’s show off our club – email to Mel by October 15th. Mel also has two additional photo opportunities to share – please check the club “forum” for detailed info. Thank you, Mel.

Tim White, co-print chairperson, has received several requests to increase the number of prints that may be turned in for competition from 4 to 6. After discussion, a motion was made by Rich Fiddelke and second by Mel Mann to allow the increase. All present voted in favor. Prints are due by the October 25th meeting.

The next set of digital images is due by November 1st.

This evening is the October digital reveal. Fifty three images for our enjoyment. Well done everyone!

Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm. Twenty five members present.

As a reminder, there will be print competition only for the month of November.

Mel Mann needs three members to volunteer for judging a N4C digital competition sometime during late October or early November. Contact Mel if interested.

Recommendation made and discussion had on limiting the number of images to 12 per person at the show and tell meeting. We have been running out of time at every meeting and don’t want anyone’s images to be hurried. Vote will be taken at the next meeting.

Our program this evening is presented by John Melingagio, Director of Communications for the Omaha Home for Boys. OHB has served the Greater Omaha Community since its beginning in 1920. John gave us an overview of the programs and services provided by OHB. Thank you John, we enjoyed the presentation.

Minutes 9.6.11

Welcome to the first OCC meeting of the 2011-12 year.  Thirty three members and guests present.
  
Tim White, co-print chairperson, presented a “how to” on submitting a print for competition.  November 1, 2011 and March 6, 2012 are the dates of the competitions.  Matt Miller will be the judge for November.  Bring your prints to any meeting in October.  Please check the web site for all the detailed information.  The print label may also be found there.   Thank you Tim.
Digital files for the October competition are due now.  Don Cross has graciously given us until September 11th to have our files to him.  The assigned subject for October is depth of field.
Several  fun upcoming events to watch for on our calendar  – Last Fling Till Spring Car Show, West Point, Ne, September 18th; September 24th, Pow Wow, Fort Omaha and September 25th,  Nebraska Humane Society, Walk for the Dogs.  
This evening is our first digital competition reveal.  Very nice group of images -  Well done everyone!

PICNIC – August 20, 2011

HUGE  THANKS TO . . .
Trish Place for hearing the news on the radio that World O Water was having an event at Chalco Hills on the same date and time that we had selected – and for finding and making arrangements for us to move our location to Walnut Creek Recreation area.
Mark Kresl for preparing the brisket to perfection.
Greg Place, Trish’s son, for providing live music – well done!  That was an extra special treat.
Everyone that brought fresh fruit, salads, clips, drinks and deserts.  We have some wonderful cooks in the club.  
Perfect picnic weather.  Red tail hawk sitting in an old dead tree, heron landing on lake, flowers in full bloom, lots of bugs and butterflies, people fishing on the lake and a family of swallows with four hungry babies in the nest!  What more could a bunch of camera club members possible ask for.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our first meeting of the 2011-12 club year, Tuesday, September 6th.

Welcome to the third and final summer meeting of the Omaha Camera Club. Twenty seven members and three quests present.

The club picnic is scheduled for noon on Saturday, August 20th at Chalco Hills. Trish Place will go to the lake early on Saturday and locate a picnic spot for us. Mark Kresl will prepare the BBQ brisket - if you are planning to attend the picnic and were not able to be at the meeting let Mark know so he has a correct head count. Family, friends, prospective new members - one and all are welcome.

September digital competition images are due now - assigned subject is architecture. Judges will be Larry Headley, Mark Kresl, Tim White and myself. Check the web site for the “how to” information on submissions. Don’t forget we have only four categories this year - Nature, PJ, Assigned and Anything Goes.

Mel is well underway preparing the 2011/12 program/speaker schedule. He is also collecting digital images for competition at the N4C level. Contact Mel with your ideas for programs or potential speakers.

Print judges - After presentation by Tim White and club discussion a motion was made by Mark Kresl that the hired print judge by paid $40.00 per competition. Second by Guy Rish - all in favor. We will have two print competitions and possibly one digital competition that will be judged by a person not a member of the club.

Trish Place announced a photo-op for interested club members. On Monday, August 22nd the Boy Scouts of America are holding a fund raiser at the Omaha Country Club Golf Course. Teams will begin registering at 11am with a shot gun start at 1pm. If interested contact Trish.

This evening is “Show and Tell”. Gary Prill presented the Club 85th Anniversary Book (with wonderful music). The details for purchasing the book may be found on our web site. Also, anyone that would like to purchase a DVD of the book may contact Gary. Huge THANK YOU GARY for all the time and talent you put into our book! Motion made by George Sinos, second by Guy Rish that a printed copy of the book be purchased and place in the club library.

Second summer meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Twenty eight members and two guests present.

Trish Place read a “Thank You” note from the Sand in the City organization. They were very pleased to have the Omaha Camera Club return for a second year to photograph the event.

Mark your calendars – CLUB PICNIC - August 20th – Noon – Wehrspan Lake located at 156th and Giles. Please check the web site for directions to the event. Family, friends and potential members welcome.

The new rules of competition have been posted to the web site. The turn in date for digital images for September competition is AUGUST 9th. Don Cross is the digital chairperson. As a reminder, print competition months are November and March.

We are still missing a book from our library – Visual Poetry. Check your shelf and see if the missing can be found.

This evening was “Show and Tell”. Thanks to all who brought images to share. Some real fun stuff!!

First summer meeting called to order at 6:30pm by President Trish Place. Thirty members present.

Paul Evans has a print show up for viewing at Silver of Oz, 6115 Maple St. Twenty five prints on display - stop by and check it out.

Mel Mann - Anyone that still has black and white film to processed see Mel and he will supply the name of a vendor in Wisconsin.

If you have images that you would like to submit for N4C competition get them to Mel as soon as possible. Categories are PJ, nature or creative.

Mel is asking for volunteers to form a club “speaker committee”. If interested contact Mel.

Eva Haywood - Upcoming summer family reunion - looking for volunteer(s) to photograph the event. Contact Eva if available.

Mark Kresl - Looking for volunteers - portrait shoot, one evening per month (approx 4 hours). Contact Mark for additional information.

Anyone needing books from the club library over the summer contact Paul Evans.

Gary Prill reports that the club Anniversary Photo Book is in the works and looking good. So far it is 76 pages at an approximate cost of $158.00. Gary will also put together a DVD with music at a nominal fee for those interested in a digital version. More info to follow.




Discussion continued on print competition changes. After much discussion, motion made by Mel Mann, second by Sandy Wentworth and vote - all in favor. Please refer to the club web site under “Competition Rules” for a full explanation of the changes.

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm. Twenty six members present. This is our annual business meeting - nomination of officers for 2011-12, programs, competitions, assigned subjects, etc for our next club year. Several discussions ran long, so the next meeting, May 17th, will finish the process.

Motion made by Mike Barker, second by George Sinos, vote, all in favor, nominations and appointments accepted as stated above. Thanks to all.

Lengthy discussion on possible purchase of a digital slide scanner and/or new screen. Both items tabled for further discussion.

Competitions - Discussion on whether or not to have competitions. Motion by Beth Button, second by Tim White, vote, all in favor to continue holding monthly competitions.

Digital, prints and categories - Don Cross and Tim White will gather options and recommendations from the club for further discussion and decision at the next meeting. Categories being considered are portrait, landscape, commercial, anything goes, nature and open.

Assigned subjects and/or techniques being considered are: faceless portrait, things on a wall, jump, wine, junk, collage, macro, HDR, motion, light painting, stop action, architecture, DOF and panorama.

As our club year ends and we have a little extra in our treasury, suggestion was made that we consider a gift to The Omaha Home for Boys toward a “Pond Project” currently in the planning stages. Motion made by Mark Kresl that a gift in the amount of $500.00 be donated toward this project. Second by Gary Prill, vote, all in favor. Many thanks to OHB for continued use of their facility at no cost to our club.

Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm. Twenty eight members present.

Club Library - Dhruba has been busy preparing a new page on our web site to make it easier for us to check out books . Simply fill out the form and he will bring the materials to the next meeting. Thanks Dhruba for keeping us organized.

Our next meeting, May 3rd, is the first of two yearly business meetings. Officer nominations, assigned subjects for next year, program ideas, etc - bring your ideas and let them be known. A group photo will be taken to include in our 85th Anniversary Book, so bring your smile.

Club Calendar – remember to check the calendar. We have several events coming up quickly. OPPD Power Drive finals at the new Werner Park are scheduled for May 7th and Sand in the City is the first part of June. Details to follow.

Mark Kresl presents our program this evening – How To Take a Great Portrait. Thanks Mark, great job. Thanks also go to Brian Alspaugh for being our model.
